Own voice terms of use
Effective October 11, 2026
Tocavox lets you create a copy of your own voice so the app speaks like you. It's a sensitive tool: a voice identifies a person. That's why, when you create or request it, you accept these rules.
Who it's for
People who have lost, are losing or have trouble using their voice, and who will use it to communicate day to day. You can only create your own voice. If you can no longer record, a relative or caregiver can request it with older recordings, always for you to use, in your account.
What you accept
That the voice is yours and you record it yourself, or that the person the voice belongs to will use this account and authorizes it. That you will use it only to communicate. That you won't upload or try to create the voice of someone else, an artist, a politician or any public figure.
Forbidden uses
Impersonating another person or institution; asking for passwords, codes, card details or transfers through deception; threatening, extorting or harassing; creating sexual content; making political statements or attributing false words to someone; defamation. You also may not record audio with Tocavox to spread it as a real voice in another context.
How we protect it
When recording, you read out loud your authorization with your name and today's date, and a sentence made up at random at that moment: that's how we know it's you, live. That authorization clip is kept as proof; the rest of the recording is deleted. With your voice you can say up to 10 new phrases a day (Tocavox's starter phrases don't count). Each new phrase goes through an automatic check: if it looks like a forbidden use, it's spoken with Tocavox's standard voice, not yours. We log the phrases spoken with your voice for 90 days, only to investigate a report.
Suspension
If several phrases are blocked or we receive a well-founded report, we may suspend or delete your voice without prior notice. Your account and phrases keep working with the standard voices: we never leave you unable to communicate.
Authorities
If a competent authority requires it under the law, we may hand over an account's proof of authorization and phrase log.
Age
You must be 18 or older. If you are a minor, your parent or guardian must accept these terms for you and be with you when recording.
How long we keep it
You can delete your voice yourself in Settings, right away; if you ask us by email, we do it within 7 days. We also delete it after 12 months without use. The proof of your authorization is kept for up to 3 years after the voice is deleted and then erased. Recordings sent in a request are deleted as soon as it's reviewed.
Responsibility
You are responsible for what you say with your voice. Tocavox is a non-profit project and offers this feature as is, with no guarantee it will always be available. We may change, limit or withdraw own voice at any time.
Report misuse
If you think someone is using your voice, or someone else's, on Tocavox, write to tocavox@luxia.us with the subject "Report misuse". We review it with priority.
